First, let me start off by saying I am a HORROR FANATIC. I obsess over all things horror, I love to be scared. Now, for those of my fellow horror fans you all know that there are quite a few iconic horror movies that are the foundation of modern-day horror. A personal favorite of mine is the Halloween (1978), the original “babysitter-stalker” classic. The audience is introduced to a mostly normal family, who do normal things. They go to school, they go to work, they eat dinner and they play cookie cutter lives. That is until the youngest boy of the Myers, Micheal, is sent to a sanitarium after the murder of his sister. It is his breakout of the sanitarium when the true horror really begins. After his escape from life in a mental institution, he rampages through his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois and stalks and murders babysitters.

This iconic film was originally supposed to be a single movie but later turned into the Halloween Franchise. Which latter produced 10 different movies; some were continuations from the original 1978 horror film, and two were remakes for Halloween I and II.

Each movie had its own version of the same story to tell. We learn about who directly affected Michael’s life and are given clues but never a definitive answer to why he does such evil things. We are introduced to Jamie Lee Curtis’s character, Laurie Strode, in Halloween I who it actually Micheal's younger sister (she doesn’t find out till later in the series) and it returns to the lead role in Halloween H20. During the course of four movies, the audience follows her attempts to live a normal and life and watch her repress her haunting past.

After 10 movies the franchise has simply run its course and has faded into distant thoughts. UNTIL NOW! It was recently announced that on October 19th, 2018 we will be gifted with ANOTHER HALLOWEEN MOVIE. This is said to be official last movie of the franchise. The course of the final movie is Jamie Lee Curtis’s character, Laurie Strode, plans to finally end the ever going battle between her and her brother Micheal and kill him. The new movie appears to incorporate the original slasher style of the 1978 cult classic but in a modern way.

I must say I am beyond excited for this. I have felt a hole in the horror film industry lately and feel it is time to go back to what works. Most horror films nowadays consist of the same climaxes, the house is haunted, the child or parent is possessed, or there’s an extraterrestrial monster coming to devour the world. I say, let us go back to the horror films that made us check twice when we lock the door and double check that the butcher knife we all have is tucked away to a place only you know in case of emergencies.
