Surprise Guest Blog!
Hello everyone, the Mettre a jour for this wonderful Wednesday March 20th I and fellow blogger decided to steal each others blog post for a day! Meet Ren Nixon who is just your typical vegan lesbian who loves cats and started a YouTube channel. Her Insta is @ren.nixon
We collaborated through answering a single question: “Define the term Feminism and describe what it means to you”.
Below is her response!
Feminism is equality for all men, women, and transgender people. We are all people and should not be discriminated against in society. Not one gender has power over each other, but we all have equal power. I would define myself as a Feminist because I feel people are people. Men can cry and play with dolls. Women can fix cars and wear suits. None of this should even matter to people.
We should all have the opportunity to reach the same job goals and the same pay. Some think if you are a Feminist you hate Men, but that is false. I think Men and Women are equal and I want my male friends to thrive as much as I want my female friends to thrive. I don’t want them to be doing the same job and one get paid less than the other. That is where my Feminism comes in full force.
In this day in age it makes me so excited to see Women doing jobs that were usually just for “Men”. I love seeing Women directors and writers. I love seeing Women getting into Politics. I love seeing Women run corporations. I love seeing Men taking care of the children and cooking or cleaning. I love seeing Men being Nurses. It honestly shouldn’t matter what someone does. Whatever interest they have shouldn’t be labeled as a Man or a Woman’s job. It should just be a JOB. The times are changing, and I’m so excited to see what will happen. I hope I’m still here on Earth when we get our first Female President.
One stereotype I will be glad to see go is the whole “like a girl” phrase. How come doing things like a girl an insult? Girls can throw, run, and do any activity just as GOOD as a Man. Some might even do better. It has to do with their skill and nothing to do with their Gender. My little Sister is pregnant, and we do not know the sex yet, but she buys from both the girls and boys section. She wants to let them follow their passions and if that’s a boy in dance or a girl in sports she is all for it. I know the new mothers are raising their babies right and this will help society.
I know we are on the right path it just will take some time. Don’t give up the fight. I’m passionate about equality and I know good things are on the horizon. I love you all and thanks for checking out my blog.
