Define Feminism And What It Means To You

The term feminism is defined “as the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes”. Feminism is the belief in equality amongst all. I personally consider myself a quiet feminist. I completely agree with the want for equality on all platforms, where sex isn’t a factor in how much a person makes or how seriously a person is taken in the business world. Essentially on whatever platform it may there should be equal opportunity for all. I call myself a quiet feminist because I am not a very outspoken person unless I have to be. I have many opinions and beliefs that i keep to myself for the sanity of my friends and family. Too many people are all screaming their thoughts into the world right now and rather than joining the jumbled mess I’d rather talk about art, poetry, music than political views.

Sadly, the world works where some are born more prilvaigenegd than others, that is a factor in life that will never change. But what feminism means to me, is much larger than just women’s rights or women’s empowerment. Which, both are very important, they are only the face of what feminism means. To me, believing in feminism is the belief for equality for all. The feminist movement that was set in motion July 19–20, 1848, in Seneca Falls, New York where the first meeting for the women’s rights movement was held, and has continued through day and will for the foreseeable future. The fight for equality is something all fight for in one way or another.

So, my thought is while everyone else in the world is trying to yell louder than each other the rest of us talk. Talk about the problems, how they came about, the consequences to all those affected or any other topics related to working towards a solution. I feel like the world is so unbelievably stubborn. It’s like the person in the relationship who doesn’t want to choose a place to eat but secretly is dying to go to this one restaurant and wants the other person to somehow telepathically know that, and if you don’t guess right you get the cold shoulder and the silent treatment. Welp, I think I’m sick of the silent treatment and want to see the change the world is really capable of.

I firmly believe that stubbornness leads to ignorance, and “There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. For those of you are passionate and have firm believes in equality for all, I hope we get to see the day that we are on the right path for solution.

P.S. I love all you ladies out there and there is something quite beautiful about the unquestioned empowerment I see on social media, like Ren!
